A rich-lexicon theory of slurs and their uses

In this paper, I present data involving the use of Romanian slur ‘țigan’, consideration which leads to postulation a sui-generis, irreducible type slurs (‘identificatory’). This is potentially problematic for extant theories slurs. addition, together with other well-established uses (derogatory, appropriated etc.), it shows that there more variation in than previously acknowledged. explain by construing as polysemous. To implement idea, appeal rich-lexicon account polysemy. show how such theory can be applied and discuss several important issues arise.
